How Long Do Dental Bridges Last?
February 26, 2018
In our previous blog, Dr. Faist explained what a dental bridge is and what this procedure can help fix. Now that you know more about dental bridges, we would like to let you know how long they last and some of the things you can do to extend their life.
As we stated in our previous post, dental bridges fill in a missing space where your tooth once was. Dental bridges usually last around 10-20 years with proper cleaning and regular trips to the dentist. To make your dental bridge last, here are some things you can do to keep your bridge in good shape.
- Floss under the bridge to remove any food
- Avoid hard and sticky food, they can put stress on the dental bridge
- Eat less starch and sugary foods to prevent decay
- Continue proper dental hygiene
- Visit the dentist at least twice per year
You want to treat your dental bridge just like your permanent teeth. By practicing good dental habits, you can extend the life of your dental bridge.
