Don’t Forget to Take Care of Your Toothbrush
March 14, 2018
Although we spend a lot of time stressing the importance of proper brushing and flossing, caring for your toothbrush is just as important.
The next time you finish brushing your teeth, here are some simple tips to keep your toothbrush in good shape.
After your brush your teeth
You want to make sure that after you brush your teeth you clean off the toothbrush using water. After you rinse off the toothbrush, allow it to air-dry. If you cover your brush or store it in a closed, small area, germs can begin to form on your brush because of the moisture.
Replacing your toothbrush
You may notice that, over time, the bristles on your toothbrush are out of place and show a lot of wear. You need to replace your toothbrush every 3-4 months, or earlier if needed, in order to keep your brush cleaning your teeth effectively.
Sharing is NOT caring
You should never share your toothbrush with anyone. Sharing a toothbrush can easily spread germs from one person to another and increase your risk of infection.
Besides proper at-home care, visiting the dentist is one of the best ways to keep a healthy mouth. If you are in need of a cleaning or have any questions be sure to schedule an appointment with Dr. Faist in Beachwood, OH.
